Cedar River Outfitters

License Information

License fees are currently $424.35 and include a small game license which Iowa requires. If time allows after you harvest your trophy, you will have the opportunity to hunt game birds, waterfowl, small game and predators if you wish.

All application information and fees must arrive at our office by May 1st. Our office will submit your licensing information for drawing consideration. The drawing will take place the first part of June with results being available in late June. Once results are final, you will be notified.

A preference point may be purchased during the preceding year and will increase your chance to acquire a hunting license for the following year.

Preference Point Program:

Several years ago the Iowa DNR started the preference point program to allow prospective non-resident deer and turkey hunters a better chance at drawing the tag in the area they desire. A hunter may accumulate a preference point for future hunts and this will increase (almost assure) an Iowa-hunting license during the season they wish. Currently, one preference point in Cedar River Outfitters hunting area will almost guarantee you will be drawn for non-resident hunting license.

Cedar River Outfitters will handle the application process for preference points on all prospective or booked clients. If you are considering a future hunt with Cedar River Outfitters we encourage you to participate in the program NOW. The preference point fee is $12.30.

PREFERENCE POINTS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE DURING
THE IOWA LICENSE DRAWING PERIOD OF MAY AND JUNE.

Late season primitive bow only, provides an excellent opportunity to harvest the buck you desire. Because of Iowa's harsh winters, deer will move continuously during this time for food and warmth. This is a prize time to harvest your quality buck. Slots are limited and will fill up fast. Do not miss your opportunity to fulfill your dreams of a big Iowa buck.

Important Information:

If you are born after 1/1/1967 you must send a copy of your hunter's safety card to us in order to apply for your license. It must be legible because we have to fax it to the licensing agency when we apply for your license. Proof of a hunter’s safety course should be in your possession while hunting at Cedar River Outfitters.
